Good & Bad Boxer News...

Happy Birthday Mom... Thanks for taking me shopping today while Matt was out with friends. It was good to get out of the house, even if it was in a wheelchair!

Tonight we are having some of our best friends over, hopefully I won't be too tired to be fun! :O)

Okay, back to the Boxers... Let's start with good news...
This is Cassius' LAST weekend visit before he comes home permanently from MU for his treatment for his macroadenoma (large tumor on his pituitary gland), which was causing him to basically starve himself... just what we needed since this issue coincided with Baby issues. Just more stress on Matt and Me. :( But thankfully he is doing SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better.

The bad news is that Sugar has a tumor on her right hind leg that is going to have to come off. :( Our poor vet, he feels so sorry for us that he's giving us a 1/2 off discount. God, I love that man. These boxers are sucking us dry, but they are our FIRST babies. I know a lot of people think we are ridiculous for how we treat them and the $$ we've spent, but they light up our lives and we couldn't live without them... there is something to be said about unconditional love... I can't WAIT to see them with the twins! :)

So, SUgar's surgery is Thurs, July 3rd, the same day that Cassius comes home permanently! YAY! Some normalcy is finally returning to our lives.

GUess this means that Sugar won't be going to my mom's (my Sunday babysitter) on Sunday with me to torture Maddie (the bagel - beagle/basset mix - that my mom rescued). She's known as the dog that won the doggie lottery according to my brother...

2 more dogs at mom's house when we visit may just put poor Maddie over the top! What can she say, she's a 'fradie cat!

28 Weeks, 1 Day

As I'm entering this, my first personal entry of our Baby Blog, we've hit a milestone that Jeni desperately wanted to achieve.

As Jeni mentioned in the last entry, we've had quite a bit of drama already in this pregnancy. At 23 weeks, she was smart enough and cautious enough to take herself to the Labor and Delivery unit when things just "didn't feel right." Thank god she did.

During her stay at the hospital and after things calmed down a bit, our doctor informed us that up until 28 weeks we would have to go to Children's Hospital if Jeni started to go into labor again. After that, our twins can be born and treated at Mobap, which is where both Jeni's doctor and twins' pediatrician practice.

This week, Jeni had to cope with me being gone overnight for the first time in her pregnancy. I wasn't comfortable with her staying alone, so I asked my mom and step-dad to come and "babysit" her. Mom also took her to her 28 week doctor appointment. She reports that everything went well. The babies are over 2 lbs each currently but the doctor would have liked them to be bigger.

We're watching the calendar and hoping the babies stay where they are for quite a while to come.

Last Night of Multiples Class

So, in the last 4 days, the babies have become kicking maniacs, which is cool! :)

Tonight was 'our' last multiples class and our tour of the hospital, nursery, and Special Care Nursery (where the babies are probably going to spend a little time, but hopefully NOT TOO MUCH).

Since Matt abandoned me tonight through Friday (he's out of town on business). He missed out. Instead I took my mom and his mom... it was interesting, overwhelming, and cool at the same time.

Tomorrow I am 28 weeks, which means that I can now officially deliver at MOBAP... Thank god! :)

"Your Kids Killed my Dog"...

So today, the Nursery Nazi (as I refered to her after a long and tiring day OR Gretchen as she is known by all that know and love her) and her 2 adorable children showed up to help me get organized. And Organized we are after 6 hours of her HARD work, as I lazed in my rocker in the nursery (I know it's hard to believe I was actually being a good girl). The Nursery Nazi would not have it any other way... not that I have the energy or even the ability these days to run around, etc.

I absolutely cannot thank her enough. When I wanted to stop and rest, she plowed on through... she even put together our last crib (which poor Matt hasn't had time to do b/c he's been so busy keeping up with the house, laundry, dogs, me, and eventually getting some time to rest...I told him this was just preparing him for the babies). :) If she wasn't his favorite cousin before today, she certainly is now.

Poor Sugar, on the other hand. Well, she was TIRED half way through the visit... She even crawled up on my lap in a 'Mommy Save Me' attempt b/c Tia and Kyra wore her out.

All I can say is, my nursery is organized (thank god), Matt is so tickled about not having to put the last crib together, and I am SURE that Gretchen slept like a log last tonight! As I tell Matt on a regular basis, next to him, she's the greatest thing that happened to me since I married him... I could not have asked for a better, cooler, more fun cousin. I love her like a sister. :)

Sugar slept like the dead tonight and all day on Wednesday. Life is hard being a boxer in our house, can't you tell!

Big Night Out!

Tonight was one of the most exciting experiences I've had in a LONG time and one of the most expensive I've ever had...

I got the all clear to go to Babies R Us and use our 15% off coupons and I even got to eat dinner out at McAllisters' Deli that they just built by our house... We had one by our old house in Creve Coeur and I loved it... The only disappointment of the night was the continued ban on tomatoes)

Anyway, Matt and I had to make a trip to BRU (as it is fondly called) to get some last minute accessories. Yes, I know the babies aren't coming for a LONG time, but I needed to get some things before Gretchen came over and organized us. SOOOOOOOOO, thus we ventured out. Two hours and $500 later, we have fun things like a changing table pad, covers, feeding supplies, a hamper, mobiles for the cribs (amazingly the ones from BRU exactly match our bedding from Target that we got at 1/2 the price), our last mattress, and other fun things that escape my mind currently.

It was nice to get out in public and see other people!

Dinner was awesome too! :)
